🍕 Freedom isn't getting a pizza box shot into your home through the mail slot. Navy SEAL Jocko Willink, a complete unit and perhaps the least flexible-looking of human apes, says that freedom equals discipline. I think that's right. You don't have to wake up at 2am (Jocko dude, relax), but know that your freedom is made, not given. Repeating "I am free, I am free" is but an empty mantra unless you do your chores.
🥜 If you must, go for 'Adult Candy'. When you slip into that dark moment of weakness, resurrecting your impish six-year-old self, kill your craving with Peanut M&Ms. It's a responsible choice, packed with protein, and satisfying in a way that a noisy bag of Sour Patch Kids will never be.
👨💼 Make homies at work. You spend 1/3 of your life sleeping, 1/3 working, and 1/3 pretending to pay attention to what another person is saying. American life in 2022 is exhausting as it is, and friends take work. Research shows that after 25, the average adult starts to lose friends over time. Make it easier on yourself and find the people at work who 'get' your sense of humor or who also think Epstein was murdered. "Hey I'm ___, wanna be my friend?!" sounds dumb but works like magic.
🥴 Don't let the news break your brain. Trump did it to libs. Joe is doing it to conservatives+libertarians. Ye does it to the whole planet. The angrier you get, the richer the media gets, and the poorer you get (fwiw: real inflation is +20%, gang). Not only because they steal your eyeballs and thumb-strokes, but because every hour you spend howling about something utterly out of your control, is an hour unspent getting hotter and better-read.
