Humans are pure emotion
Issue #173
A man’s game charges a man’s price.
G-morning 🦁 This is Andrew's Apples - we back at it. Today we are shooting not with trash Russian ammo, but with pristine Israeli and Czech bullets. Let’s go.
🦍 It’s all I got. An odd delusion has slipped into western culture in the past twenty or so years and it is this: anyone can do anything with enough hard work. Sure, hard work is the prerequisite for accomplishing anything interesting, but it ignores a key component from physics. Leverage. Let’s use sports as an example. The ball in soccer is on the ground, thus most soccer players are on the shorter side (because shorties are, uh, closer to the ball). Basketball players are essentially playing soccer except the ball is in the air, so the best players will skew taller (again, where the ball is). CrossFit athletes and weightlifters have exceptionally short limbs, making the distance the weight must travel shorter than a swimmer or MMA fighter (who require, say, long arms to stroke and strike, respectively). And so on. 🍎Andrew's Take. Why would this concept of playing to your genetic strengths be any different than playing to your epigenetic strengths? You’re good at talking, so become a salesman or a trial lawyer. You’re analytical, so you dive into data science or engineering. You’re the clown from the movie Air Bud, so become a dog beater. For my dollar, this mismatch in people’s true talents and sweat stains stems from a one-size-fits-all school system and even worse parenting. Never doubling down on the good and always trying to eliminate the bad. The end result is a middle man, his edge blunted and his fangs removed.
🕊️ Tweet of the Day. Just a friendly reminder that humans are pure emotion. Those emotions electrify us to buy things, eat too much, sleep in too late, cry during pharmaceutical commercials, squirm, and make terrible eye contact. But the stack of paper memories you accumulate over 80 years will virtually never be tied to a line of logic.

How about them Apples? Hit me with any comments or questions or hate speech.
