I'm still not joking
Issue #134
The Beatles were so fucking high they let Ringo sing a few tunes.
Good morning 🦁 This is Andrew's Apples, the 2-min health email that's like one of those $6 ginger shots at juice joints, but... it actually works. Let's go.
🥥 The simple six fats. Stick to these and only these fats (eating, mixing, cooking): beef tallow, ghee, butter, coconut oil (virgin), olive oil (virgin), and avocado oil (unrefined). Notice that the only unsaturated (i.e. liquid at room temperature) ones are olive and avocado; the rest are solid or semisolid at room temp. Quality control is most needed with avocado oil, as up to 85% of brands can be rancid and/or mixed with lesser oils.
🍎 Andrew's Take. If you see processed foods made with oils/fats other than the ones listed above, know that you are most likely eating shit. Not going to kill ya but consider it a cheat meal. When foods are mixed and coated with lower-grade fats, its nutrient content gets wrecked. Trash in, trash inside. GULP.
😺 I'm still not joking. About half of Americans are magnesium-deficient. That is not good because magnesium is a mineral that is used by every organ in your body. When you are deficient in mag, you feel tired, lose appetite, and get unusual muscle spasms/eye twitches. I've written about mag before and its importance. Most of the mag supps out there are sus as hell. Stay away particularly from magnesium stearate.
🍎 Andrew's Take. The only bad news about mag is that, unlike Vitamin D3, a high quality mag supplement will cost you a bit more. And as much as I hate playing the granola aunt who won't shut up about walking barefoot in the NYC subway because it "restores your feet's natural musculature," I'll endorse mag until your ears pop off. Let us pray.
💉 A vaccine for that. First it was Covid. Earlier this summer it was monkeypox (really bad name btw lol). Now it's... polio?! Last week, health officials found traces of poliovirus in the New York state sewage water. Within a blink, researchers started comparing notes on which states have low polio vaccination status.
🍎 Andrew's Take. New virus, new fleet of vaccines. Nothing inherently wrong with vaccines. Let's be clear on that! I got my li'l J&J, so the simps can chill. With November midterms around the corner, expect more and more "odd" events: monkeypox having been around for decades but just NOW hits the states; polio not being a thing for decades but just NOW stirring the pot... what's next? Keep an eye on geopolitical headlines that people are randomly becoming "interested in" and "experts" on. *Cough* Taiwan *cough* Ukraine *cough* Oftentimes these are used to disarm and distract the public, and always at the cost of the population's health (physical and mental). I am so sick of the flags in both political endzones - get a job, go outside.
🕊️ Tweet of the Day. Holy smokes, shots FIRED. *Runners and cult-y crossfit folx have left the chat*
