Testosterone talks
Issue #109
most of the stuff you're stressed about is mundane and self-engineered, period
Good morning π¦ This is Andrew's Apples, the health email that is like your smart svelte friend with good things to say. Two min. Let's go.
π¦ Niacinamide has anti-obesity effects. Niacinamide is a precursor to nicotinamide adenine dinucleotide (NAD+), a vital signaling molecule thatβs believed to play an important role in longevity and anti-obesity. A study showed "Niacinamide decreased fat accumulation in mice with diet-induced obesity by 47% while increasing lean mass by 1.4-fold." Ideal dosing of niacinamide is 25-50mg 3x/day (and it's very cheap).
π Andrew's Take. Per usual, the reason this well-researched protocol is not more commonly recommended is financial: big pharma can't make bank on something that costs a penny or less per day. Pair it with sunshine, fasting, resistance training, sauna, and - fine - the sunning of one's private parts for best results. G-day.
π Chik-fil-A-Plus. The chicken fast food joint is America's favorite restaurant for the eighth year in a row. Following closely behind is Jimmy John's, Domino's, and KFC in the fast food category. While diners still overall prefer full-service restaurants, C-f-A still eked out what we can only imagine to be Applebee's, Chili's, and TGI Fridays.
π Andrew's Take. The good news is that Chik-fil-A trumped McDonald's (which scored horribly despite doing the biggest business). The bad news, of course, is that Chik-fil-A is our country's favorite restaurant. Things will get worse before they get better on this front. But worse is better than worst.
π± Testosterone talks. Dr. Peter Attia discusses here testosterone as a hormone, testosterone replacement therapy (TRT), and more. In short? TRT "improves lean mass, reduces fat mass, and improves strength." Conventional wisdom says men at or above the age of 35 should consider TRT. Production levels of T simply taper off as men reach middle age. Many would say this hormone is what makes a man a man. Thus, it's metabolically (and, to some, culturally) important to maintain youthful levels of T in the body comp.
π Andrew's Take. There is a lot of talk lately (especially on twitter) about the causes of the T levels in men declining since the 1980s. Deleterious seed oils! Not sunning your balls enough! EMF radiation from your cell phone! Yes, overworked Americans can always use more sun, more steps, more sleep, and cleaner food. Table stakes. But I think the main reason is that our lives are now lived in our living rooms. A/C, soft furniture, groceries delivered, no-expiration pantry carbs, even plants that practically water themselves. Remember that testosterone is an as-needed hormone, so why would your body produce T if your life looks like how I just described (hint: this is most)? It wouldn't lol and it doesn't. I personally attribute the meteoric rise of MMA/UFC in the past several years to men globally intuiting a desire for such a level of intensity, rebooting their T levels to where they clocked 500, hell even 50, years back.
ποΈ Tweet of the Day. No cell phones back then... So you split up and just meet later at an arbitrary hour, at the entrance of some dark cave? K.

How about them Apples? Hit me with any comments or questions. Love hearing from the gallery.
Your friend,
