Weed-killer killing us

Issue #111

Don’t think. It can only hurt the ball club.

Good morning 🦁 This is Andrew's Apples, the health email that Hunter Biden should've been reading before he started smoking crack and bunking with "sex workers". Two min. Let's go.

  1. ☠️ Weed-killer killing us. A widely used herbicide linked to cancer is now, yup, showing up in people. A gov study found glyphosate in 80%+ of urine samples of American adults and kids. You know this chemical as Roundup, the devil's drinking water. These Big Ag conglomerates (in this case, Bayer) have tremendous lobbying power and always have. It's even showing up in organic beer and wine.

    1. 🍎 Andrew's Take. In this country, folks, the only protection is to eat organic and - if you have the means and the time - know your farmer. Otherwise, try your best and minimize its negative impacts by moving, getting sun, and sleeping in the dark. Sadly, news like this will become more common.

  2. 🦷 Whitening strips are trash. Research finds teeth whitening products containing hydrogen peroxide (almost all of them) damage the proteins in your teeth. As a reminder, poor oral health increases risk for Type 2 diabetes, Alzheimer's, and heart disease.

    1. 🍎 Andrew's Take. Just use baking soda, gang. Cheap, safe, and effective for gum health, plaque removal, and whitening. Your teeth talk to the rest of your body.

  3. πŸ’° Seed this! This year is off to a rocky start in the business world and as such venture capitalists are placing their seed bets on a small set of niches that will define the coming years, all as inflation reaches 41-year peaks. Those niches include: metaverse, NFTs, brain and neurotech, alt protein, and personalized fitness. The perma-bulls, who would not be caught dead bashing any of these (their) opportunities, will say the population will get fitter because of apps, protein that is less reliant on animals, and supplements that optimize our brain health. From a health perspective, the move away from our hunter-gatherer ancestors is UNEQUIVOCALLY good. Well, follow the money. When you do, you see that all of these niches can thrive while human health continues to spiral out of control.

    1. 🍎 Andrew's Take. Money has no emotions (this is a good and bad thing btw). If you think that the eggheads on Sand Hill Road care more about you taking off your Nestle-branded VR headset to go outside than they do about making that bread, g*d help you. Similarly, the guys in lab-coats spending an unthinkable # of hours behind a microscope studying how to optimize brain chemistry or eradicate "free radicals" have not stepped foot in nature. More answers and better answers are found at the gym, the barber, the café, and the strip club. Wanna see what your brain chemistry is really like? Go all-in on a business venture, get your heart ripped out and blendered by a guy/girl, go walk around a rough neighborhood nearby for twenty minutes. Hide and seek.

  4. πŸ•ŠοΈ Tweet of the Day. Hehehehehe, no top country is anywhere near us. We beat 'em all by a mile! The United States of Advertising (fritos and diet coke). USA USA! Most expensive healthcare that... doesn't even work. But yeah: climate change (libs) or woke side-sports like swimming (conservatives) is going to be the END of us, right? Riiiiiight.

How about them Apples? Hit me with any comments or questions. Love hearing from you folks.

Your friend,

Andrew🍎
